 DSP's Making a Difference: Scott Buss
As part of DSP Recognition Week, FADSP is pleased to recognize Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people they serve. Scott Buss is one of those DSPs.
 Scott Buss has been working at Community Resource Network of Florida (CRN) for 15 years serving as a Direct Support Professional. He is viewed by CRN as "an amazing caregiver" who goes above and beyond to care for the people in his charge - treating them like family, with the utmost care, respect, and compassion, and making a difference every single day.
Scott's consistent presence and professionalism have had a lasting impact on his client's quality of life, independence, and ability to remain safely in his own home. He provides person-centered support by understanding the individual he supports needs, preferences, and goals, while actively encouraging independence and personal choice. After his client experienced the loss of both parents more than eight years ago, Scott became a source of stability, encouragement, and emotional support, helping the individual to continue to live safely and confidently at home.
Scott demonstrates integrity and responsibility in the day-to-day details of his work — assisting with daily needs, organizing household responsibilities, managing bills, coordinating outings, and ensuring a safe living environment. He respects his client's privacy, dignity, and choices, while promoting fairness, inclusion, and community involvement. Through the strong relationship the two have built over the years, Scott provides trust, encouragement, and advocacy, empowering the individual supported to make his own decisions and ensuring that his voice is always heard. His compassion, dependability, and dedication reflect the highest standards of a Direct Support Professional.
