As part of DSP Recognition Week, FADSP is pleased to recognize Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people they serve. D’Anna Monroe is one of those DSPs.

D’Anna Monroe has been working at ARC of the Treasure Coast for over five and a half years with a career of twenty years in the industry, currently serving as an Assistant House Manager. Her unwavering dedication and compassionate nature have made her an indispensable member of the ARC of the Treasure Coast team. She has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and has been a constant source of support through multiple management changes. Her ability to build strong relationships with both the individuals she supports, and their families is truly remarkable.

D’Anna is the primary point of contact for family members, providing essential information on appointments, medications, daily activities, and the overall well-being of their loved ones. Her in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the job makes her an invaluable resource for both staff and families. Whether it’s questions about medications, MAR issues, training, or behavior plans, D’Anna is always ready to assist and provide guidance.  D’Anna is an extraordinary Direct Support Professional who embodies the true spirit of care and compassion. Her dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to the individuals she supports make her an exemplary DSP.

D’Anna excels at creating a positive and inclusive environment for everyone involved. She actively seeks the input of the individuals in her care, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. Her commitment to enriching the lives of those she supports is evident in the variety of activities she plans, including weekly outings, in-home activities, and community events. D’Anna consistently goes above and beyond to create opportunities for fun, socialization, and personal growth. She works hard to create meaningful experiences, such as:  organizing and hosting Bingo nights with exciting prizes, creating a cinematic experience with movie nights complete with popcorn, nachos, and soda, promoting relaxation and socialization through tea parties, encouraging physical activity and community engagement through walks tailored to individual abilities and neighborhood outings, building strong bonds with neighbors through group walks, providing personalized attention through one-on-one outings, creating unforgettable birthday celebrations with decorations, gifts, and the individuals’ favorite meal, expanding horizons by attending community events, encouraging creativity through fun outings such as Sip and Paint to name a few.  D’Anna’s influence extends beyond her direct responsibilities. She serves as a mentor to both the individuals and staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. Her positive attitude and willingness to help others make her an inspiration to all who know her.
