DSP's Making a Difference: Francis Wiggins
As part of DSP Recognition Week, FADSP is pleased to recognize direct support professionals (DSPs) who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people they serve. Francis Wiggins is one of those DSPs.
Francis Wiggins has been an exceptional team member at Sunrise Community since July 1994. For the past 23 years, she has worked in Suite 1 at the 120 Person Campus where the individuals who reside there need special medical and physical support. Her job performance, attendance, and dedication to the individuals served are displayed with consistency and complete dedication. Since she became a member of the Sunrise family, her mission has always been to do her best to promote independence, happiness, and wellness for the individuals served. Francis’ work ethic has fallen into complete alignment with the Sunrise mission.
Francis takes her responsibilities on the job seriously and is meticulous in all she does. She is careful to ensure adequate care is provided to maintain the health and safety of the individuals and always ensures the home is organized and clean. Last year she transitioned to the morning shift. Prior to that move she stayed on the midnight shift to provide support and training to the oncoming staff. Her quality of work, demeanor, and team spirit are unmatched. She is often called upon to assist in other homes or to assume other duties to meet the needs of the individuals and she consistently responds in a positive manner.
There are so many great things that could be said about Francis; however, what sets her apart is her untiring dedication, her consistency in providing faithful service, and the special attention she gives through the love she has shared with the individuals over the years. She comes to work prepared to give her all to enrich the lives of the individuals and encourages other staff to have the same mind-set, in directing their attention to all the needs of the individuals.
Francis is a champion of promoting physical and emotional wellness. Her many years of dedicated service reveal that she knows exactly what their needs are, and she is always prepared to step-up to the plate and ensure that their lives are filled with healthy supports. She always pays special attention to detail and immediately recognizes our individuals’ needs, addressing any problem immediately. Francis always senses what to do to bring comfort and relief in any situation.
Francis has spent much time providing service to the individuals we serve. She does not consider herself to be just an employee of Sunrise, because the service she provides and the relationships she has established with the individuals are more like being a member of their family. She is a strong advocate for all individuals and has demonstrated her faithfulness to being an advocate in many ways.
Thank you, Francis, for your continued service to the individuals served at Sunrise Community!
